One week to go....

   We are now a day into the last week before the hand in of our student set project and pressure is getting high. Well I say the pressure is on but I feel like I'm being lulled into a false sense of security and there's a nagging feeling that I'm going to wake up tomorrow and have a mountain of work still left to do.
   As it goes, I'm on track to getting the work done in time with only slight adjustments to be made to my designs. My final outcome is going to consist of a wall piece, demonstrating what it is to be a Young Farmer. It is a combination of information graphics, photography and type. There are also two books that are part of the piece. Each of the books offer information about members of young farmers and their views on the organisation.
   The only thing that is causing me a bit worry at the moment is my accompanying sketch book. I have all the work and research, it's just the case of putting it all together and making sense of the madness. There are still two days to go before I go to print so I should probably stop blogging about it and actually get on with it....

Inspirational

 Every now and again you come across something in life that makes you stop and think. I found this video last night and feel that it is too amazing not to share. It is incredible, what some people have to go through in life. Always remember, things are never as bad as you think they are.

" There are no words to describe what you're about to see. It's all about HIM!

A Son asked his father, "Dad, will you take part in a marathon with me?" The father who, despite having a heart condition, says "Yes". They went on to complete the marathon together. Father and son went on to join other marathons. The father always saying "Yes" to his son's request of going through the race together. One day, the son asked his fater, "Dad, let's join the Ironman together."

To which, his father said "Yes".

For those who don't know, Ironman is the toughest triathlon ever. The race encompasses three endurance events of a 2.4 mile (3.86 kilometer) ocean swim, followed by a 112 mile (180.2 kilometer) bike ride and ending with a 26.2 mile (42.195 kilometer) marathon along the coast of the Big Island.

Father and son went on to complete the race together! "

Student Set Project 'SSP'

We are now 3 weeks into our penultimate project, it is all student set so everybody has free reign on what they can do. The variance in the project ideas range across a number of different topics; culture shock, hangovers, to do lists, sleeping patterns and young farmers.

The topic that my student set project is based around is Young Farmers. My aim in this project is to inform people of what it is to be a Young Farmer. I am not campaigning to get new members but informing people of the unknown. I plan to make people aware of the organisation, what it does, what role the members hold and the benefits of being a member. I will produce an outcome that will be based around information graphics, portraying the roles and achievements available to Young Farmers.

The main problem that I have faced is that both my peers and tutors are unaware of young

farmers, this has been a problem as when it comes to tutorials and crits, they are unable

to offer in depth feed back and suggestions. 

 

My ideas are progressing and I am currently in the stages of producing rough visuals and prototypes. Following a group tutorial today I now have a full weekend ahead of me, fine tuning the individual elements of my out come and gathering photographs.

 Every now and again I research friends and peers, that are working and studying in the design community, to see what projects they have been involved in recently and also to see how their work has developed over the years.
  One person that I have been reading up on is an old work colleague that is now studying Photography at Bath Spa University. When we worked together I remember her asking me about cameras but now after taking a peek at some of her photographs I think she'll be the one teaching me a thing or two. She's an amazing person with such a wonderful outlook on life that you can really see through her photography.

Year book

 Groups of Young Farmers up and down the country, hold rally's and competitions, in their area, throughout the year that allow members to explore their range of talents. The tasks can range from creating a piece of clothing out of fruit and vegetables to designing an invitation for an engagement party.
  Every Year the individual Countys' publish a year book containing information about what the groups and clubs have partaken and achieved in the past year. One of the entries for this years rally is to design the front cover for the year book.
 The rally isn't until may and I'm not actually a member, but have been asked by a good friend to help out as the only software he had/could use was Word... needless to say I jumped at the chance (Any reason to put off doing actual uni work...)
